“He is your praise, He is your God, who performed for you those great and awesome wonders you saw with your own eyes.” (Deut. 12:21)
Moses said these words in order to remind the Israelites how the Lord with a mighty hand and wonders led them from Egypt the land of bondage through the desert into the land of freedom, honey and milk.
Similarly in our journey of faith the Lord God has freed us from bondage of sin and gave us the power to become His children and heirs of His kingdom. In our daily journey we come across many problems and temptations which He helps us to overcome. And for that He is worthy of praise and glory. It is in this light that I report What the Lord helped Addis Hewot Ministries accomplish since its inception December 2004.
I came to US in 2003 to join my family when I very quickly realized that my vision still remains the same, to continue to proclaim Christ as I have been doing during the last thirty years. I prayed with my family and friends that the Lord may provide an opportunity so that I could start a ministry of Word and service. My vision came to fruition when my vision statement was accepted by the Lutheran Missouri Synod leaders and Trinity First Lutheran Church council. They prayed with me and promised to support me by providing counsel, worship space, office and financial support to the extent that is possible.
Trinity First Lutheran Church gave me permission to use its church for worship services and office space in October 2004.
In the same month the ministry vision and the decision of the TFLC was shared with family and fiends during the thanks giving worship service. Sunday worship service was started in December 2004.
Provisional Elders were elected, Sunday program was prepared and regular services continued.
In May a bank account was opened and two signatories were assigned.
Lessons on church stewardship and the need to support the ministry were given over several weeks and tithing started in July, 2006.
During the year those who attended Addis Hewot Church services benefited from Sunday service, Wednesday prayer, and home visit, marriage counseling, marriage classes, and much more.
Annual spiritual conference was also held.
We are witnessing the Lord’s continued blessings upon the work of Addis Hewot Ministries as new people continue to come for worship and praise.
We thank him for being with us as we start this ministry and continue to move on in our attempt to reach many more people in the Twin Cities and beyond.
